Thank you for this interesting and helpful article. Our family will be traveling by air this summer to attend a family reunion in NY (we live in CA) and this information will be most helpful.

Yup. I knew a lot of people who were on Atkins. They lost a LOT of weight. A year later 99% were back up to their pre-diet weight. Two years later they weighed even more than when they started. When are folks gonna learn?

Reusable bags have become trendy, with companies and groups handing them out for free at festivals and other events to promote themselves. I've always found great tote bags at the thrift shops. They come in all kinds of sturdy material (canvas, nylon, etc) and they are always dirt cheap (like 25 cents to $1.00 each). Some of them are still brand new as well. Now, if I can just try to remember to grab them out of the back of my car when I go grocery shopping.

Great post! Everyone needs a good, fast breakfast to get them on his or her way: there’s poached egg on toast, fruit and yogurt, porridge/oatmeal, Shredded Wheat and others.

Once you’re past your thirtieth birthday you no longer snap back the same way and excess eating coupled with excess TV watching equal fat, diabetes, hypertension and other unpleasant things that require frequent trips to the doctor and many pills. While the 30s and the 40s seem far away to a young man, time flies faster than we think and suddenly you’re no longer young. But you can still be healthy with a little exercising every day.
